POETIC PIONEERS 2009


Dub Traffickers inducts Mervyn Morris for Poetic Pioneers 2009 on Sunday 2009 February 01 between 3:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. at Poets Corner, Hope Gardens, Kingston 6, Jamaica, West Indies.

Poetic Pioneers began in 2002 and is an award celebration of poets and institutions written/audio/visual expressions.  The Award celebrates the hidden who have contributed extensively towards the growth and development of Dub Poetry.  Past recipients are Michael Parchment, Lee Scratch Perry, The Gleaner Co. Ltd., Jamaica Cultural Development Commission, Institute of Jamaica and Tastee Ltd.

Mervyn Morris is being lauded for his contribution to the development of Dub Poetry, Dialect, Poetry in Jamaica since independence as a poet, teacher, critic and mentor.
